Watch your words!

In order for us to Arise & Shine, we also need to watch the words that we use when we are talking about God, ourselves, others and the tasks we are involved with.  Have you ever examined what you are really saying? To be honest, I have not really put that much emphasis on my words as I probably should have.  Our words really tell what is going on in our hearts!  Proverbs 4:23 tells us that everything we do flows from our hearts!  For example, if I say that I wish I could start a small business the likelihood of me actually fulfilling that dream is incredibly low because it is a non committal statement!   Let’s examine some tips for words to Arise & Shine.

Hearing words can increase or decrease our faith

We must only speak words of faith as we plan, prepare and act on our goals so that the Holy Spirit can work through us fully.  We must not limit the HS with our lack/small faith through our words.  Words like ‘desire’, ‘wish’, ‘someday’, ‘hopefully’ or ‘someone should’ are all words of little faith.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 (KJV)

According to this passage, we need to hear the message through the word of Christ to grow our faith!  So, hearing the words will help us to grow our faith for what God is calling us to do.  Hearing yourself speak the words of Christ out loud, daily, will increase your faith!

Words have the power of life and death

Proverbs 18:21 tells us that our words have power of life and death.  So, we must speak words of life to ourselves, others and whatever we are called to do!  Do you remember when Jesus found no fruit on the fig tree and then cursed it by saying that no fruit will grow on it again?  The next time the disciples passed by that tree is was dried up!  When Peter mentioned it to Jesus, he replied.  “Have faith in God…truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” (Mark 11:22-23).   So, we can therefore speak to something and give it life or death!  This is a great responsibility and we should take a seriously.   So much life or death can be done through our words.

Use words of life intentionally today and going forward

Now that we understand the power of our spoken words, we must intentionally declare (acknowledge possession of) and decree (an official order issued by a legal authority) God’s word on earth, to ourselves (2 Cor 10:5) and to others (Ezra 5:11-16).

May you make many advancements for the Kingdom of God through your words and deeds!

May you use your words intentionally to demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God and may you take captive every though to make it obedient to Christ.

May your faith arise and may your light shine brightly.
